The restaurants where our tour group ate were nice places located in the various cities we went to. Sometimes we ate at the hotel restaurants as well. The meals were usually included in our trip cost. What were not included, to our surprise, were our drinks. Since we went to higher end restaurants, the water and soda pop were overpriced. For example, a large bottle of water might cost 15 or 20 pounds which is $3 or $4. At a shop, the same bottle of water would cost 2 pounds, or about 40 cents! This became a pricey part of the trip. The meals we received were predetermined by the restaurant so we did not get to choose what we ate unless the restaurant had a buffet (which happened a few times). The most common items we ate were chicken, rice, French fries, fish, watermelon, and pita bread. One of the most surprising meals we ate was in Alexandria at a seaside restaurant called the “Fish Market”. They served a whole fish (face, fins, bones, and everything) to us along with some fried calamari.
I would highly recommend trying the food that is served to you. I am a picky eater and did just fine. Also, if you are a vegetarian, the restaurants will cater to your needs.

There were also western franchise options available for an even pickier eater.
